ah, the memories

so i realize i'm completely cheating by going three weeks without blogging and then coming back with a "tag", of sorts. but i'm all about memories. and i'm about as sentimental as they come. and since this is the latest "hot tag" on the blogsophere (or at least the mormon one), and so many of you are so willing to confess how much you miss me as it is (haha... no, but seriously... i miss you too)... here goes:

1. as a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and i had together. it doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. next, re-post these instructions (minus my smarty-pants comments) on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. (apparently...) it's actually pretty funny to see the responses. if you leave a memory about me, i'll assume you're playing the game (<-- sort of didn't know this was a game... but if it makes you more excited to do it, then we'll just call it that) and i'll come to your blog and leave one about you. if you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, i'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

deal? deal.

I remember when you lived at our house and we were on vacation - you had all the Orkin men come over and spend the night - and we got home to find a bunch of people in our beds.....my parent's included. I think you just about died.

Ok mine is a little more "serious" but I remember when you and Burton brought us dinner while I was in the hospital. It was so nice to have a friend there I could just sit and chat and relax with and be myself (even though "myself" was a bit more cranky due to the fact that I was in labor and didn't know it...). You made it so much easier to be there! You guys are the best!

I still laugh whenever I think about comments you made at your wedding lunch -- especially comments made while someone else was talking.

When Burton and I were serving together a tie would show up every month and I would ask where it came from and he would simply refer to you as the "tie fairy". I think he was trying to stay focused on the work and not gab about his girlfriend back home but I think I should have at least known your name. That Burton sure is a silly man.

I remember when we first met you guys and Emily was talking about some people she knew where the girl was a lot older than the guy and we were all commenting on how totally weird that was, then 5 minutes later you were like, "uh, actually...." That was funny- call us or email, we want to hang out!!!

I remember meeting you at Flinders apts. and thinking how much I wanted your hair! I also remember thinking what a great missionary you and Burton were to Mitch and I when we first moved in, you helped us know when and where church was and even reminded us when we didn't show up the first two weeks.
I also remember VTing and how for some reason I just loved talking to you about all sorts of topics and listening to your views and opinions, I could just listen to you for hours (and sometimes would, much to the dismay of our husbands I'm sure).
From the get go I knew you were someone I would have a lot of respect for because you have a great sense of humor but your also quite brilliant. Two things I love about people!

I remember hanging out with you guys at Ben and Whit's. You two are so much fun and I have always loved your laugh Janaya. I love to hear you laugh. Burton is hilarious...and you too...I guess this memory is more about Carter, but I remember when Carter would do his air guitar and you liked that and videoed him with your phone. I also remember talking with you after church when I was visiting in April. You really helped me feel better and not quite so much like a loser. You're awesome.

I remember when you lived at our house, and would go next door to Tanners to lay out in the sun. You went to close the automatic pool cover, and the pool hose got caught in it as it was rolling up - totally crushed the hose and pulled the pool cover off the track. Pretty funny in the end, since Dave was there to fix it.

I also remember that you wrote a totally sweet note of gratitude whenever you paid the rent. I loved your writing, and you are so good with your words!

Love and miss you!

Dana.
